Honoring Native American Military Service: The National Native American Veterans Memorial

On Veterans Day of 2020, the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian opened the National Native American Veterans Memorial on its grounds, honoring the extraordinary tradition of military service by generations of American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian men and women. Curator Rebecca Trautmann will discuss the memorial's creation and design and the history of Native American military service.
