Experience the exhibits of the Ohio History Center museum! Located at 800 E 17th Ave, Columbus, OH, 43211, at the intersection of Interstate 71 and 17th Ave.

The Ohio History Center museum is generally open Wednesday through Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.- please check our website for holiday hours or other operating hours changes. The Ohio History Center is closed for annual cleaning and maintenance the first two to three weeks of January each year.

Free/Children 3 & Under, ticket required

Please note- regular museum admission is good for regular operating hours on any future date that the Ohio History Center museum is open, except for the Ohio State Fair. Advance tickets are available but not required. Walk-up admission is available anytime during open hours at the Ohio History Center front desk. This admission is not valid for special event admission with additional cost, or where pre-register advance tickets are required. 

 

Members who wish to reserve tickets in advance can do so by calling 614-297-2300 during business hours.


Ticket with barcode must be presented to redeem admission. Tickets can be printed or presented on a smartphone.

Included in this total ticket price is a 5% arts and culture fee on the base ticket as required by the City of Columbus. This fee supports exemplary artists, arts and cultural organizations and programs that educate and engage audiences of all ages throughout greater Columbus.

 

 

 

GEN: Pasting and Preserving Ohio History Through Scrapbooks

Discover how Ohioans have used scrapbooks to preserve their everyday memories and make meaning of historical events. In this program, Ohio History Connection Interpretation and Content Specialist Wendy Korwin will introduce you to unique scrapbooks from the Ohio History Connection's archives. Through these examples, we’ll explore the history of scrapbooking and discuss some of the challenges of preserving these fragile, deeply personal artifacts.

Dr Penny Walters, external speaker, a British academic, author, and internationally recognized genealogy speaker with over three decades of experience in higher education and family history research.

Workshop Summary: Researching a family tree traditionally involved asking relatives about their lives, drawing a tree and undertaking a paper trail, but it now involves finding new mostly online records and dealing with strangers on the internet. Join Dr. Penny Walters as she explores questions like - What information should and shouldn’t you include on your tree? Attendees will benefit from reflecting on their own ethical dilemmas and considering ethical issues with empathy, sensitivity and diplomacy. What is the way forward? Are you an ethical genealogist? What ethical dilemmas have you found in your genealogy research?
